The girl turns towards you and gives you her hand. “I forgot to introduce myself earlier. My name is Sue, nice to meet you.”
“Oh, um… Jake, nice to meet you.”, you reply.
“You know, I also was a student of Professor Hellfair.”, she starts. You look at her, surprised. 
“You went to university?”, you cannot help but ask.
She smiles. “Yes, I am a bit of an oddity in that sense. My father insisted that I get an education. I have to say, it is quite an experience, being the only girl in a university.”
“I can imagine.”, you say. “But I’m surprised your mother didn’t object.”
Her smile turns somber and you realise that this might not have been the best question to ask.
“My mother sadly isn’t around to object anymore…”, she says in a quite voice.
“Oh I’m truly sorry.”, you say.
“Don’t. It was a long time ago anyway.”

Roddy interrupts your conversation by bringing in the starters and you can’t help but feel grateful for that.
